E-LEARNING COURSE

Asthma Workshop series for Schools

A six-module eLearning series that turns dense clinical guidelines into bite-sized, interactive lessons.

From 120 pages to 45 minutes:
Asthma training that health pros actually finish.

See how we turned a dense workshop manual into an interactive course clinicians can use between consults.

Why it mattered

Most clinicians already receive a steady stream of journal articles and guideline updates, yet few resources show how to turn that knowledge into a clear, five‑minute chat with a patient. Asthma Australia asked us to close that gap.

Challenges

  • Too much reading, no time during shifts.
  • Hard to turn guidelines into patient-friendly language.
  • Limited device-technique practice in live workshops.
"Give busy nurses, pharmacists and allied-health staff a faster way to master patient-education skills, without reading a 120-page booklet."

The Client

Design moves that made the difference

These are the instructional tweaks that turned dense clinical text into fast, hands-on learning:

The 80/20 Game Plan

Keep the 20% of content that delivers 80% of impact, park the rest in optional resources.”

Checklist backbone

  • Each module maps to a section of a patient‑education checklist so learners can download and use it immediately.

  • Anything that didn’t hit the checklist became optional.

Solution highlights

Lung diagram with drag‑n‑drop labels
  • Clinicians practise turning clinical terms into patient language.

“Show me / Let me try” loops

  • Drag‑and‑drop, branching scenarios and teach‑back dialogues simulate real consults.

Device Central hub

  • Clickable device library (video, steps, common errors) as an easy access reference.

Guideline links in‑context

  • Inline icons open current PDF pages so clinicians can dig deeper without hunting.

Traffic light Asthma Action Plan

  • Learners build a plan they can print for the next consult.

3‑D airway animations

  • 20 seconds replace three textbook pages on airway changes.

My process

Most clinicians already receive a steady stream of journal articles and guideline updates, yet few resources show how to turn that knowledge into a clear, five‑minute chat with a patient. Asthma Australia asked us to close that gap.
  • Content map & gap analysis – Reduced 120 pages to six performance objectives.

  • Storyboard + SME sprints – Weekly 30‑min reviews kept clinical accuracy tight.

  • Prototype tests – Three hospital RNs completed a clickable prototype; their feedback trimmed module length by 20 %.

  • Agile build – Built, published, and QC’d each module before moving to the next to avoid backlog rework.

Outcome

Asthma Australia folded the series into its national LMS and still promotes it as the starting point for new staff. Post‑launch surveys show strong confidence gains, and the Device Central hub is now referenced in their printed resource kit.

Looking back

Translating dense guidelines into bedside language was the real win. Next version I’d add a pre‑test so experienced clinicians can skip straight to what’s new.

WEB DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT

The Cat Doctors

A warm, approachable website for a cat-focused practice, built for trust, clarity and connection with every client.

A 2025 refresh for a site we first built in 2018

When The Cat Doctors moved to a new clinic, they updated their branding, and invited us back to redesign their website, ready for the next chapter.
When The Cat Doctors approached us for their first version back in 2018, they knew their website was their digital front door, but it wasn’t welcoming many customers. They wanted a site that would help new clients find essential information, book appointments easily and feel confident about their cat’s care, right from the first click.  This is a refreshed version we produced this year.

Challenges we tackled in our first version

  • Outdated site that didn’t reflect the clinic’s personality or values
  • Hard for clients to find contact details or book online
  • Not mobile-friendly; difficult to use on phones
  • Clinic team found it hard to update content themselves
"Our team and clients loved the original site, so it was great to see those features carried over, with a fresh new look just in time for our move."

Practice Manager

Design moves that made the difference

We set out to create a site that felt as caring and clear as a visit to The Cat Doctors itself.

The One-Click Principle

We made sure clients could access the most important info (like bookings, contact, and clinic details) with a single click from the homepage, following best-practice UX for service websites.

Fresh start, familiar feel

  • We built a welcoming design with earthy greens and gentle curves, echoing the calm of the clinic environment.

Effortless bookings

  • A streamlined booking form puts clients at ease, with clear calls to action and intuitive steps.

Mobile-first approach

  • Every page is designed to work beautifully on mobiles, tablets and desktops—so clients can get in touch from anywhere.

Easy for the team

  • We set up custom fields and gave the team a quick training, so keeping content up to date is a breeze.

Solution highlights

Welcoming homepage

  • Friendly photography, gentle colours and clear messages greet every visitor.

Visuals with Personality

  • Gentle shapes, calming colours, custom icons and illustrations bring warmth and friendliness.

Book in a click

  • Simple appointment form makes booking easy from any device.

Meet the team

  • Profile pages introduce staff, building trust with new clients.

Resource hub

  • Easy-to-update advice pages help cat owners find answers to common questions.

My process

We worked closely with The Cat Doctors team to make sure the site felt truly theirs.

Discovery & Mapping

  • Mapped the old site’s content, prioritised must-haves and explored what wasn’t working.

Wireframes & Moodboards

  • Developed initial layouts and colour palettes, gathering feedback at each step.

Prototyping & Build

  • Built the site in Oxygen Builder, tested on real devices, and refined the design for clarity and warmth.

Handover & Training

  • Delivered a quick training session so the team could update content and images confidently.

Outcome

The Cat Doctors’ new website has made it easier for clients to book, find information and get in touch, on any device. The clinic team now update their site themselves, and client feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.

Looking back

Translating the warmth and trust of The Cat Doctors’ real-world clinic into a digital experience was our top priority. We loved helping their personality shine online, and we continue to support their team as their practice grows.
